Ragnar grimaced before forcing his focus elsewhere. Looking at the raw injuries only made them more difficult to ignore and made Athelstan's words seem to ring truer.
"They are just burns," He countered, voice quiet. Naturally, he had to argue a little bit, regardless of how apparent it was that Athelstan was right.
He scoffed softly, "I do not need anything for the pain. We have ale. They will be fine as long as they are dressed properly."
"They are serious, Ragnar," Athelstan counters and he's gentle as he can be, trying to make sure the wounds are clean before he's carefully wrapping them back up. He doesn't knows that Ragnar needs far more treatment than this and that the other is going to be stubborn about it.
"You need to see a healer, please. These are serious, they are not small and harmless burns..."
The worry is evident in Athelstan's voice if not his expression. He is far more worried about what could go wrong with such wounds than even the pain. He knows that Ragnar would not care too much about it but what if this could truly cause him permanent harm if he didn't get help?
Ragnar fell silent as Athelstan went about wrapping his wrists, almost breaking a sweat he was having to focus so hard on not reacting to how painful they were. Each time Athelstan looked up however, he forced a reassuring little smile.
Once Athelstan finished, he felt like he could breathe again. As long as he didn't move his wrists much and nothing touched or brushed against them, he could basically ignore them.
"If it is worse tomorrow... I promise, I will go," He sighed, making a mental note to make an offering to the gods in the hope that his burns won't be worse the next day.
Athelstan looks like he has half a mind to argue with Ragnar about going now to prevent it from getting worse. He furrows his brow and bites back that particular argument and settles on something slightly different.
"If it is not better even, you will go see someone. I demand it.

"We will look at them tomorrow and decide," He said, but by his tone it was obvious that he was giving in.
